Daily sudoku: today's grid, the same for everyone
The daily sudoku is one grid a day, generated from the date so everyone in the world gets the same puzzle. It is Hard by default and you can switch it to any level. Solve it to build a streak. No app, no sign-up, no interstitial before you play; works offline and with the keyboard.
How to play the daily sudoku
- Open the page: today’s grid is ready. A new one appears at midnight UTC.
- Fill each row, column and 3×3 box with 1 to 9 once, as in any sudoku.
- To change the level, open settings and choose Daily difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert or Evil.
- Solve the grid to extend your streak. Solving yesterday’s keeps it going; a missed day resets it.
- Share your result as plain text from the win panel. It includes the date, not the solution.
- Missed a day? Earlier dailies from the last 30 days can be opened from the archive.
Daily sudoku tips: finishing every day
By default the daily is a Hard grid with 26 to 30 clues. It needs singles, pointing pairs and at least one naked or hidden pair, triple or box-line reduction, but never an X-wing or a guess.
A routine that works on most Hard grids: place all the obvious singles, sweep digits 1 to 9 for hidden singles, then press Fill notes. With notes on the board, look for pairs in the rows, columns and boxes with the fewest empty cells. Each elimination usually leads to a new single.
If the daily feels too long, switch the level to Medium in settings; your streak counts as long as you solve a daily each day. If you want more, set it to Expert or Evil. Expert and Evil dailies are generated in the background, so on a slow device the grid may take a couple of seconds to appear.
Stuck on the daily? A hint names the technique and highlights the cells, so you learn the step rather than just getting the digit. The first two hints on each puzzle are free.
Because everyone gets the same grid, the daily is a fair comparison with friends: share your time and moves from the win panel and let them try the same puzzle.
Streaks, stats and the daily sudoku archive
The daily keeps its own stats in your browser: games played and won, best and average time, the current streak and the best streak. The timer starts on your first move and pauses when you switch tabs. Undo and redo cover the whole game.
The archive holds the last 30 days, each opened with ?d= and the date in the address. Later hints may offer a short ad or a 30-second wait.
Plays anywhere, no app, no account
The daily sudoku is computed on your device from the date, so it loads offline and on a plane. Tidy Puzzles runs entirely in your browser: there is no app to install, no account to create and no interstitial before you can play. After the first visit the game also works offline, because each puzzle is generated on your device from a seed. Every board can be played with the keyboard alone, on a phone or a desktop, and your stats and unfinished puzzles stay in this browser rather than on a server.
